Battle Beyond the Sun

This was a soviet science fiction film from directors Mikhail Karyukov and Aleksandr Kozyr, that was subsequently bought cheaply by Roger Corman, who then gave then-student Francis Ford Coppola the job of american-izing it. It is about a space race between the USSR and the USA to be the first to colonize Mars.
