Pathfinders In Space

Pathfinders In Space

1960

Pathfinders In Space was a follow-up to Target Luna, which was shown earlier that same year, and was followed up in turn by Pathfinders to Mars and Pathfinders to Venus. It was produced by Sydney Newman, who would go on to develop and produce Doctor Who just a few years later, and as such it is sometimes seen as a precursor to it. The earlier Target Luna dealt with three children who get involved in a flight around the moon, and in this story they are along again as a mission actually lands on the moon. The only clip I've found is the one below, which also includes clips from a couple of other shows from the same studio. However, aside from Target Luna, the whole Pathfinders series is available on DVD, though in a PAL (non-US) format. For anyone with a region-free DVD player it should be great fun. Also, for anyone wanting more info on the series, the 'History' link below leads to a fantastic essay.
